Bait & groundbait

Base recipes

Universal groundbait: 40% breadcrumbs + 25% ground oilcake + 20% corn grits + 15% flavor (vanilla/anise/garlic by season). Moisture — clumps in a fist, breaks apart in water.

Cold water

Spring/autumn: less flavoring, more protein — bloodworm, chopped worm, maggot in the mix. Darker color, finer fraction, smaller and rarer balls.

Warm water

Summer: sweet flavors (corn, vanilla, caramel, tutti-frutti for carp), coarser fraction, more feed content. Millet and pearl barley as cheap fillers.

Live baits

Worm — universal. Bloodworm — winter and small predators. Maggot — white fish in summer. Livebait — pike/zander (5–8 cm top-water species). Storage: cool, moist, not airtight.

Vegetable baits

Corn and peas — carp, bream, crucian. Mastyrrka (pea porridge) — bighead carp. Boilies — carp only. The bait must stay on the hook and match the target fish size.

Norms & rules

Groundbait without fanaticism: 2–3 balls at start, then by bite — a small ball per 30–40 min of silence. Overfed fish don't bite. At paid waters — check feeding limits.
