Prices & quotes
Market reference: exchanges, quote sources, basis ports, reports — what a trader reads
Sources and indicators
Exchanges
CBOT (wheat/corn/soy, SRW), Euronext/MATIF (wheat/rapeseed — European benchmark), KCBT (HRW), MGEX (HRS). Ukrainian grain prices off CBOT/Euronext.
Ports and basis points
CPT/FOB Odesa/Danube quotes, CPT-elevator. Basis depends on freight, war-risk insurance and port load — it widens in peak season.
Price sources
Exchange terminals (real-time is paid); free: Investing/TradingView charts, agencies (APK-Inform, UkrAgroConsult, USDA WASDE, IGC).
Reports
USDA WASDE monthly — the main futures mover; USDA weekly export sales Thursdays; IGC balances; MinAgro crop forecasts.
FX layer
Export price in USD, costs in UAH — trader margin is FX-sensitive. Watch NBU rate and interbank separately from grain news.
Seasonality
Prices weakest at harvest (supply), strongest in spring. US/EU/UA planting-harvest calendars set the market rhythm.
Quotes are a reference, not a deal price: real price = exchange ± basis for a specific port/elevator and delivery date. For Ukraine the key question is logistics cost to port — it eats the spread between the exchange and the farm-gate price.
