Working from home

Ergonomics, routine and mental health for remote work

Key rules

  • Ergonomics

Monitor at eye level, elbows at 90°, feet on floor; get up every 45–60 min.

  • Boundaries

    A separate workspace (even a corner), start/end rituals: 'commute' = a walk.

  • Routine

Fixed start, lunch away from the desk, 90-min focus blocks with breaks.

  • Isolation

Video calls without camera mandates, coworking 1–2 days/week, online shared lunches.

The most common mistake is working from bed/sofa: it merges rest and work, undermining both. Getting dressed for the day is a small but effective routine trigger. End of day = a physical action that closes the 'work file'.
