Tending lasts until the stand is classified as forested (usually 3–5 years for conifers, up to 10 for oak). Indicative costs: ploughing ~8–15k UAH/ha, planting ~6–10k UAH/ha, tending ~4–8k UAH/ha/yr. Beating-up in year 2–3 adds 10–20% seedlings.
