Industrial cleaning norms

Time norms and methods for industrial cleaning: workshops, warehouses, high work

Norms and methods

  • Productivity norms

Guides: warehouse floor scrubber 1500–2500 m²/h, manual shop floor 150–300 m²/h, rope-access facade washing 60–120 m²/h per rope tech.

  • Permits and tickets

Height >1.8 m, hot work, confined spaces, line-side work — permit-to-work, briefing, fall arrest. No permit, no start.

  • Task-matched chemistry

Shop degreasing — alkaline pH 11–13; scale/cement film — acidic pH 1–3; stainless/food zones — approved chemistry only.

  • Equipment

Scrubber-dryers, industrial vacuums (ATEX-rated for explosive zones), rope access/lifts, steam generators.

  • Pricing

Not the office per-m² rate: multipliers for soiling (×1.5–3), height (×2–4), night shifts and permits. Quote after a site visit, not by phone.

  • Paperwork

Method statement per operation, work log, hidden-works/acceptance acts, PPE records and chemistry certificates for the site.

Time norms are estimating guides, not a standard: real productivity depends on soiling, height, permits. An industrial site needs a method statement, work permits for height/hot work, and liability cover separate from office cleaning.
