Cargo insurance

Marine and road grain insurance

Details

  • Institute clauses

ICC(A) — 'all risks', ICC(B)/(C) — limited; for grain the standard is ICC(A) + War/Strikes for Black Sea.

  • War risks

For Odesa-region ports — a separate war-risk policy; rates by week and corridor.

  • Road transport

The carrier's CMR insurance ≠ cargo insurance; a separate policy for goods in transit.

  • Deductible

Typically 0.5–1% of sum insured; cheaper premium = higher deductible = more retained risk.

Cargo insurance is part of the FOB/CIF price: on CIF the seller insures, on FOB — the buyer. War risk for Ukrainian exports is a mandatory add-on, not an option.
