Checklist: case structure, work count, platforms

Case structure

A case ≠ a gallery of pictures. Working structure: context (client, task, constraints) → your solution and why → process (research, variants, rejected) → result with a metric if any (conversion +12%, NPS) → your specific role. 3–6 screens per case is enough. Show thinking — anyone can make a picture, not everyone can justify a decision.

How many and which works

3–5 strong cases > 20 mediocre ones. Match the target job: for product roles show UI/UX with metrics; for branding — identity with applications; for motion — clips with process. First and last works should be strongest (primacy/recency). Student/spec projects — honestly mark 'concept', don't pass off as client work.

Platforms and format

Behance — standard for branding/illustration, long cases. Dribbble — UI shots, less depth. Own site/PDF — for direct clients: 10–15 pages, 5 MB max, a link that opens without login. LinkedIn portfolio — attached to the resume via link. Figma prototypes — for interactive work.

Red flags

Don't post NDA work without permission — show an anonymized process instead. Don't copy others' layouts as 'yours' — recruiters image-search. Only 5+ year-old work signals stagnation. 'Made a logo for $50' in the portfolio devalues everything. No contact/CTA — the dumbest mistake.
