Viewing method by level: subtitles, shadowing, vocabulary

Algorithm — B1–B2

  1. 1.Series with original-language subtitles
  2. 2.Pause on unfamiliar phrases, dictionary at hand
  3. 3.One episode without subtitles weekly as a test
  4. 4.Retell the episode plot aloud or in writing

The key is active viewing: pauses, repetition, noting phrases. Passive viewing with native subtitles barely teaches. Research supports narrow viewing — several episodes of one series where vocabulary repeats.
