Cooperative sales
Sales channels, contracts, shared brand and certification for small farmers
By topic
Sales channels
Farmers' markets, own shops, supermarket chains (local shelves), HoReCa, subscription boxes, online (own site, Rozetka, Prom).
Sales contracts
Supply contract: volume, quality (specs), terms, price and adjustment formula, acceptance, liability. For chains — long-term framework agreements.
Shared brand
A co-op brand for a group of farmers — shared packaging, quality standard, split marketing costs. Quality controlled by internal audit.
Pricing
Cost + logistics + channel margin (chains −20–35%, distributors −15–25%). Contract prices with an exchange-linked formula beat fixed ones.
Certification for sales
Chains require: vet-san expertise, DSTU compliance, for export — GlobalGAP/HACCP. For small producers — a declaration of conformity suffices.
Export
For milk/meat/vegetables — export accreditation (State Food Safety Service), destination-country certificates. Start with EU neighbors.
Small farmers' main mistake — selling 'at the field' to middlemen at low prices. Sales cooperation gives access to chains and processing that a single farm can't reach.
