Classroom psychology

Group work, conflicts, motivation

Details

  • The group

A class is a group with dynamics: roles, leaders, isolates; manage the group, not 30 individuals.

  • Conflicts

    Student-student, student-teacher, teacher-parents: rule — address behavior, not personality.

  • Motivation

Autonomy + competence + relatedness (SDT): task choice, achievable challenges, belonging.

  • Teacher burnout

Emotional exhaustion is an occupational risk; supervision, boundaries, sharing emotional labor.

A class responds to a teacher systemically: the teacher's mood infects the class more than words. 'Emotional hygiene' techniques are as much methodology as lesson planning.
