Farm wash bay & workshop
Workshop and machinery-wash planning: zones, electricity, air, safety norms
By topic
Workshop planning
Area 12–20 m² per tractor (drive-through + side service), gates 4.5–5 m high for combines. Planned ventilation and floor drainage.
Machinery wash bay
Pressure washer 150–200 bar, settling separator for water (oil/soil), heated water in winter. Drainage — not into the ground.
Workshop zones
Separation: parts storage, welding (fireproof zone), bench work, electrical diagnostics. Benches with vises and wall shelving.
Electricity & air
Three-phase wiring for machines and welding; compressor 200–500 L for air tools and tire inflation; air lines throughout.
Safety norms
Fireproof flooring in welding zone, gas extraction, extinguishers at each zone, emergency lighting. No fuel storage in the workshop.
Tools & parts
Basic kit: wrenches to 46 mm, torque wrench, diagnostic scanner for modern machines. Critical spares in stock (filters, belts, oils).
An own workshop pays off from 5–7 machines — below that, mobile service is cheaper. A wash bay with a separator is mandatory; draining oily water into soil = environmental fine.
