Fishing tourism

Paid waters

Format: day ticket UAH 150–500 for a catch limit (5–10 kg), over-limit fish — at tariff or release. Book spots in advance — places go fast in season.

How to choose

Check: last stocking date (fresh fish bite better), price/limit ratio, release rules, real catch reviews. A call to the owner beats advertising.

Trophy trips

Organized trips (Onega, Carpathian rivers, delta) — UAH 1500–8000/day with guide, tackle, lodging. Licenses included — verify the organizer's papers.

Wild spots

Free fishing is allowed on most public waters from shore. Forbidden: dams, spawning grounds, reserves. Rules — on the State Fisheries Agency site per region.

Documents

For paid waters — a ticket/receipt is mandatory. Border and reservoir zones may have restrictions — carry ID. Fishing club membership — a bonus, not a duty.

When to go

Spawning ban: April–June (exact dates vary yearly) — only shore spinning/float with 1 hook outside spawning zones. Best bite: May, September–October.
