Hookup & probe
- •×10 probe for most measurements (less capacitance, wider band)
- •Ground clip only to circuit ground, NEVER to mains live!
- •Probe compensation: hook to the 1 kHz calibrator, trim for flat square
- •DC coupling shows DC offset, AC shows ripple only
The main hazard is the probe ground clip — it's tied to earth. On mains/power stages without a differential probe or isolation it creates a short.
