Under sections 213 to 215 of the Housing Act 2004, landlords of assured shorthold tenancies must protect tenants' deposits in an approved scheme and comply with the initial requirements of that scheme. Where a dispute arises, the parties may use the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service provided by the scheme.
