Veterinary requirements

Apiary passport

Issued by the council/vet service every 3 years — records owner, colony count, treatments. Required for selling honey at markets, fairs, and to shops.

Treatments

Products — only from the vet-medicine registry. Timing: before/after honey flow, never during. Withdrawal period — honey can't be sold. Everything goes in the treatment log.

Varroa

Mandatory mite treatments: spring (amitraz/oxalic acid) and post-harvest (August). Monitoring — sticky board/sugar shake: >3 mites/day → treat.

Vet certificate

Form №2 — for selling honey across regions/at fairs. Issued by the state vet after apiary inspection. Valid 5 days — plan ahead of the event.

Quarantine

During a contagious outbreak (foulbrood) — quarantine on apiary/district: moving colonies and honey banned. Prevention: inspect new packages, isolate bought colonies 30 days.

Lab tests

For shops and export — lab protocol: diastase, HMF, antibiotics, pesticides. DSTU 4497 — the honey standard. Once a season is enough for certificates.
