Student insurance

• Germany

  Mandatory public insurance (TK/AOK ~EUR 125/mo under 30); incoming private cover for the first visa weeks.

• Poland

  NFZ for EU students or own policy ~EUR 30–50/mo; visa D requires cover >= EUR 30,000.

• United Kingdom

  IHS in the visa (~GBP 776/yr) grants NHS access.

• Canada

  Provincial (where covered) or university plan ~CAD 600–900/yr.

• Italy/Spain

  Private policy for the visa; national-system enrolment after the permit.

Insurance is a visa condition, not an option: a coverage gap gets applications rejected. For the EU check whether EHIC applies or a private policy is needed. After enrolment switch to the local student plan — cheaper than travel cover.
