Status of quarantine restrictions: what is lifted, what remains, where to check current rules
Rules status
Current status
As of 2024–2025 almost all COVID entry restrictions are lifted: PCR tests, vaccination certificates, quarantine removed in the EU, Ukraine, UK, US and most countries.
What remains
Some countries keep health declaration forms (some Asian states), vaccination recommendations for work/residence visas, insurance-with-COVID-cover requirements (de facto standard).
China & Asia
China ended zero-COVID in 2023, but long-term visas may require a health certificate. Check the destination consulate right before departure.
Where to check current rules
IATA Travel Centre (Timatic) — the airlines' source; the destination's MFA site; Re-open EU for Schengen. Travel aggregators are often outdated.
Ukraine archive
Ukraine lifted COVID entry rules in July 2022. Standard visa rules plus martial law apply now (closed airspace, land entry).
Vaccination records
COVID certificates in apps are archival, but the international vaccination booklet (ICVP) is still needed for yellow fever/meningitis in some African and South American countries.
Reference page: the COVID era is over, but a lot of 2020–2022-era information lingers online. Don't rely on old articles — check primary sources (IATA, MFA, consulates) before every trip.
