What to do in case of delay, cancellation or overbooking

EU Regulation 261/2004

Protects passengers on flights departing from the EU (any airline) or arriving to the EU with an EU airline.

Flight delay

2+ hours delay
  • Free drinks and meals
  • 2 phone calls or emails
3+ hours delay
  • All of the above
  • Compensation €250–600 (depends on distance)
5+ hours delay
  • Full ticket refund
  • Return flight to the departure point
Overnight at the airport
  • Hotel at the airline’s expense
  • Transfer to and from the hotel

Flight cancellation

If your flight is cancelled, you are entitled to:

Within 7 days if you no longer want to travel

  • Compensation is not paid for extraordinary circumstances (weather, strikes)
