Herd watering
Heads × norm → daily and peak water demand
Heads by group
Dairy cow60–100 l/day + 3–5 l per liter of milk
Young cattle30–50 l/day
Pig10–25 l/day, sow up to 40
Poultry (100 heads)0.3 l/day per head
Sheep4–8 l/day
Watering norms aren't just drinking: add technical needs (parlour washdown +30–50 l/cow, pen cleaning). A dairy cow drinks 3–5 l per liter of milk — limiting water directly cuts yield. In heat demand rises 25–40%. Peak demand is after milking and at midday: size well capacity for the peak, not the average.
