Student testing
Test types
Entry — level and expectations. Mid-course — module mastery. Final — certificate issuance. Practical tasks beat quizzes for real skills.
Question quality
One question — one idea. Distractors from common mistakes, not obvious nonsense. Avoid 'all of the above' and double negatives.
Passing score
Typically 70–80% for certification. Critical topics — a 100% block (safety, sterility). Unlimited retries kill the point — 2–3 with a pause.
Anti-cheating
Randomized questions and answers, a question bank 3× larger than the test, time limit. Proctoring only for serious certifications — overkill for courses.
Question analytics
A question 80% fail is either hard or broken. A question with 95% correct is wasted. Review the question bank every cohort.
Tools
Google Forms to start, Moodle/LearnDash for serious testing with banks, specialized platforms (Kahoot for gamification).
