Work abroad

employer and intermediary verification, scam red flags

Work abroad

  • Verify the employer: Country company registry (KRS, Handelsregister), website, corporate email, real employee reviews.
  • Agency license: A foreign employment agency must be in the Ministry of Economy registry; unlicensed is illegal.
  • Red flags: Payment for vacancy/visa upfront, salary 3x+ market with no requirements, refusal to show the contract before arrival.
  • Contract: Written contract in a language you understand: net/gross salary, hours, housing, insurance, return terms.
  • Visa & permits: Who arranges the work permit, visa type, timelines — must be stated.
  • Safety: Leave document copies with family, keep consulate phone and anti-trafficking hotline (527) handy.
  • Housing & transport: Who pays for housing/travel — salary deduction terms in the contract.
  • Emergency numbers: ILO 1697 (labor exploitation), national labor inspections, consular protection.
