profile checklist that works for recruiters

LinkedIn & portfolio

  • Photo & banner: Photo: face 60% of frame, neutral background, normal clothes. Banner: specialty visual or a clean color.
  • Headline: Not 'seeking work' — formula: Role | key stack/domain | result. Example: 'Data Analyst | SQL, Power BI | cut churn 12%'.
  • About: 3 paragraphs: what I do → key results with numbers → what I want + contact. The first 2 lines decide everything.
  • Experience: Each position: 3–5 bullets action→result→scale. 'Responsible for sales' is bad, 'closed 14 B2B deals worth $340k' is good.
  • Skills: 10–15 relevant skills, top-3 pinned. Remove irrelevant ones — they blur recruiter searches.
  • Recommendations: 3–5 recommendations from managers/clients outweigh 50 skills. Ask specifically: 'about project X'.
  • Visibility: Open to Work (recruiters only), correct location, vacancy keywords in the profile — LinkedIn is a search engine.
  • Portfolio: For creatives/IT: link in Featured. 3–5 cases with task→action→result, not a dump of all work.
