A1 — scooters to 50cc/50 km/h (from 16). A2 — up to 35kW (from 18). A — unlimited (from 20, or 18 + experience). No category = fine + impound.

125–300cc for the city: CB125/300R, Duke 125/390, Ninja 300. A 125cc scooter is more practical daily. Don't start on a 600+ sport — beginner crash stats are brutal.

ECE 22.06 helmet — min $150–300, never used. Jacket with armor, gloves, boots, pants — a full set is $500–1000. 'Gear costs more than the bike' is true for cheap scooters — but non-negotiable.

Crash signs: scratches on levers, pegs, engine covers, frame. Chain & sprockets show care. Compression, cold start, frame without welds. Papers: registration, frame VIN.

Buying: Oct–Feb — prices 15–25% lower. Selling: Mar–Apr — peak demand. Winter storage: full tank + stabilizer, battery removed or on a tender, chain lubed.
