E-waste disposal
Rules
E-waste isn't household trash: batteries, mercury in backlights, freon in fridges — hazardous components. Bin disposal — a business fine and environmental harm.
Batteries
Li-ion — explosive when damaged: separately, in a fireproof container, terminals taped. Accepted at: disposal points, electronics stores, municipal sites.
Parts & metal
Boards contain gold/copper/silver — recyclers pay by volume. Cases and wires — to scrap metal. On-site sorting multiplies the payout.
Documents
For a service center: a disposal act with the recycler, contractor's hazardous-waste license (batteries, mercury), waste log bookkeeping. Environmental inspectors check this.
Resale & donor units
Client-unrepairable devices — part donors: screens, batteries, flex cables, cases. Selling 'for parts' on classifieds often beats scrapping the whole unit.
From clients
A 'disposal' service — extra income: take the client's old device for a fee or free as a service. Builds loyalty and a donor-part stream.
