Platforms

  • Upwork

    10% fee on every contract. The largest market for long-term projects. Payouts: Payoneer, direct bank transfer (USD), wire. Competition is high — a strong profile is required.

  • Fiverr

    20% fee — the highest among platforms. A «gig» model: the client comes to you. Good for packaged services and beginners. Payouts via Payoneer/PayPal.

  • Freelancer.com & others

    Freelancer.com — 10% or $5; Toptal — top 3% for seniors (high rates, strict vetting); PeoplePerHour, Guru — smaller niches.

  • Payouts to Ukraine

    Payoneer → card or FOP account withdrawal; Wise → SWIFT to your account; direct USD/EUR wire. FOP group 3: 5% single tax + SSC + 1% military levy on FX revenue.

  • FX revenue & taxes

    Since 2022 the FX-sale requirement is lifted — 100% of revenue stays in currency. Quarterly filing for group 3; currency control lifted for FOP one-off transfers up to $400k/year.

  • Off-platform strategy

    Platforms are a start, not a model: after 5–10 projects move clients to direct contracts (GPC/FOP agreement) to avoid 10–20% fees and account freezes.

The platform fee is the price of a supplied client. Factor it into your rate upfront, otherwise net income ends up 10–20% below expectations.
